TMTP – Day 15

Posted on 01.15.2013

The following post is Day 15 of 18, in the series Take Me To A Place – in 18 Days:

One of my power verses in the Bible is 2 Chronicles 20:15: “…do not be afraid or discouraged…for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”

Our God is a mighty God who is a King. He is also a Mighty Warrior!  The Bible is full of descriptions of God as a God who knows how to fight—and wins every time! He is described as “The Lord strong and mighty.  The Lord mighty in battle” (Psalm 24:8). “The Lord will fight for you” (Exodus 14:14). The psalmist even said, ”Contend, O Lord, with those who contend with me; fight against those who fight against me” (Psalm 35:1). Our only contender is the evil one with his schemes and he has already been beaten up!

We, too, are told that we are warriors. Life is seen metaphorically as a battlefield and it certainly feels like it most of the time! Often, each day presents a battle at every turn, no matter where we go or who we are with. It can look as if we are fighting all day all of the time and we get worn out!

I have found that as I focus on Jesus, I am reminded clearly that the battles I face are not mine. God tells us over and over to let our anxiety and fear go. Our efforts to fight battles and solve problems are not ours to fight or to solve, respectfully.

When I place my mind and heart in the Presence of Christ, I remember that I don’t have to fight. I can rest. For, He has won the battle. When he died on the cruel cross for me, it was finished.

“Our God will fight for us” (Numbers 4:20)! And that is all we need to know.
