The Meaning Behind “Crimson Stain”

Posted on 11.30.2012

Throughout the past few years, people have asked me, “What is the Crimson Stain Project?” I aptly respond, “Sharing the love of Christ through music.”  That is what our goal is.  We want to share the love of God.  What is that love?  It is the unconditional love that led to God’s revealing Himself in the flesh, clothed as Christ Jesus, who shed His blood on a cruel cross for you and for me. We must be reminded daily that His blood is the payment for my sin and your sin so that you and I could rectify our broken relationship with God.  Our relationship with God is broken when we come into the world.  This relationship has to be made “right” or repaired or we will be lost and apart from God for eternity. This relationship can only be paid by a blood sacrifice.

Hence, Jesus paid the price for every single human being in this world—those who have come before us and those who will come after us.  He paid once and there is not other price worthy enough and no other price needed.  We cannot do enough good deeds to earn it.  We are not “good enough” as human beings to earn it. However, when we accept Jesus Christ as our Savior and sacrifice, we are clothed in His righteousness by being covered by His blood.

This morning as I was getting ready for my day, it hit me hard!  A song I love so much came into my heart.  I was so taken by the thought of Christ’s sacrifice that I went to one of my favorite places:  The seat at my piano.  I began to play this chorus written by Elvina M. Hall, published in 1874:

Jesus paid it all.

All to Him I owe.

Sin had left a crimson stain,

He washed it white as snow.

Jesus’ crimson-colored blood cleansed the crimson stain of sin and my slate was wiped clean forever!  His Love did it.  His Love did it once and for all.  As I sat and played this song, my eyes filled with tears.  I began to sob with gratitude for the precious gift of Jesus Christ, paving the way for me to have a right relationship with God.  This is my story:

I owe everything to Him—my life, my gifts my talents.  I owe Him my devotion. I aim to testify with every aspect of my life that He is God and that He loves us.  My goal is to share the message of His love and salvation through Jesus Christ.

This message is one of Hope and encouragement for all: “Come now, let us reason together,” says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” (Isaiah 1:18)

Receive the love He offers you.  Be reconciled to God today! (2 Corinthians 5:20)
