TMTP – Day 4
Posted on 01.04.2013
The following post is Day 4 of 18, in the series Take Me To A Place – in 18 Days:
The Bible, the Word of God is a “map for life.” The Word of God “became flesh and made his dwelling among us.” This makes a lot of sense. Jesus, the Word, came to dwell among us to show us how to live. He experienced all that we experience—emotional pain, physical suffering and temptation. Jesus had relationships with people including friends, family and enemies. He had “stuff” to deal with. However, because He was also “in the Father”, He did what the Father told Him to do. He obeyed His Father, trusted Him and received direction from Him. He learned what to do from His Father.
Just as Jesus received direction and instruction from God, we can receive our teaching from the Holy Spirit. The Word (Jesus in the flesh) through prayer (communing with God) is how we learn to live Christ-like. Psalm 25:4-5 says, “Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me.” Further, Psalm 119:105 says, “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and light unto my path.”
Living this life can and will be confusing if we do not have a guide or a compass to follow. Living this life can be one filled with hypocrisy if we do not have a standard to measure ourselves with. Jesus is the person we can follow. His example, along with the Holy Spirit can put our lives in perspective without human bias. We can learn just what to do in every situation we face because of our relationship in Christ.
