TMTP – Day 13

Posted on 01.13.2013

The following post is Day 13 of 18, in the series Take Me To A Place – in 18 Days:

“For the lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of water. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes” (Revelation 7:17).

As we live in a world of challenge, difficulty, pain and suffering, there will be tears. Tears serve as an emotional release for us.  Tears reduce the physical damage that can be done to us from emotional and physical pain. We have to know that mental pain can affect one’s the physical body resulting in disease or illness.

I know this is true for me. When I was in medical school, it seemed like I needed to have a “good cry” every six weeks or so. I would dive onto my bed, exhausted, and just cry. I let it all out, talk to God by sometimes saying nothing at all (because He knows what I feel anyway). These ginormous crying sessions were usually initiated at night, so I would fall asleep. The next day, I woke up feeling great—ready to keep going. I would still “be in the game,” encouraged to keep moving toward my goal.

Thank God for that.

Over the years, Psalm 126:5 has been particularly applicable to me. For, it says, “Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.” I believe that much of the music God inspires me to write has been borne after many tears of trial and of the joy of God’s mercy, grace and faithfulness through it all. Yes,” I could sing of His love forever!”

Now, as I have grown in His Presence, He dries my tears and there is fullness of joy. I thank God for that. Again.
