About Janice Stain

Janice Stain is a woman with many roles – mother, musician, and doctor. In every area of her life, she seeks to worship and glorify God.

She was born Janice O’Neil in Fresno, CA to parents John, a Methodist minister, and Lee, a nurse’s aid. Although she grew up surrounded by music – singing and playing piano as a child – by age 7, Janice knew she wanted to be a doctor. She attended Stanford University, where she organized, directed, and served as pianist for the university’s gospel choir. After college, Janice went to medical school at the University of Pittsburgh, earning an M.D. in 1990. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1994, and is now a board-certified fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Janice’s music is informed by her medical background, which provides a unique perspective on the miracles of life and creation. At countless churches, concerts, and other performances – through both song and speech – Janice has used her gifts to encourage and inspire audiences by the Word of God.

She has released three albums, Janice Stain, Live in Concert (2001), Worship the Lord of All (2004), a music DVD, At My End (2008), and just recently, Take Me To A Place (2013). Janice has writes and produces all of her music.

When she isn’t traveling and performing, Janice lives and practices medicine in Fresno, CA with her husband Michael and their two daughters, Kristen and Andrea.
